Closing my Zoom NL50 tables after a 30-minute session, I checked my balance in the Poker Stars Lobby to see it to have barely moved off the $1,000 I deposited 3 months previously. That capped off 8 months of a flat win rate in online poker, something that had not happened to me in almost 2 decades of playing. Lack of a winning streak? All of my good streaks and all of my bad streaks of every length and depth

Another year, another 3 months in SE Asia. On most trips, I elect not to play poker and enjoy my time instead. But after my miserable 6 months of poker on WSOP-NV since merging the states, I felt I had to play seriously. Not only to make some money, but to analyse my play. So far, I’ve only been playing NL50 Zoom, but it’s safe to say the games are quite a bit softer than WSOP-NV. I’m sure some of

Five days left in WSOP’s DIY bonus. I feel like I never want to see another card again. So far, I’m about $500 up, not a good two weeks normally, but the $2000 bonus will make it worth it. Even if I break even, I’ll consider the bonus a successful half month. But this will be my last grind of its kind. Today, I was playing with ease. I was making hands and getting calls, things were fine. When I

Update 6:04pm Sep 15: This article was in error as to the Happy Hours. The double APPs do not count toward cashback. They only count toward loyalty status. Updated to reflect this. WSOP.com is billing their late September tournament series as an Online Circuit event, which presumably means the winners will receive rings. For tournament players, this adds some events to play that may bring out more recreational players. But, are you aware of the cash game promos WSOP.com is

It’s strange to be back in Las Vegas, playing against players from New Jersey. I didn’t miss the merge purposely, I had an Asia vacation planned a year ago for those months, but now I wish I was still in Asia. I’ll try to post an article with a more in-depth opinion of WSOP after the merge in a week or so. For now, I’m adjusting back to playing stateside. New Jersey grinders It feels more like New Jersey than Nevada.

Never stop learning. If you believe you know all there is to know about poker, then please, sit at my table! Below I’ve outlined a few of the best books I’ve read recently. Best Online Poker Book The Grinder’s Manual by Peter Clarke Peter Clarke is an accomplished online poker coach at Deuces Cracked. In his 689-page book, he covers online poker strategy ranging from simple position awareness to advanced 3-bet ranges. With the aggressiveness of online poker games all

In back to back months, WSOP has offered a DIY bonus. In the DIY bonus, the player is awarded a bonus based on the amount of poker they play in a 7 day period. I’m always a fan of bonuses of course and if it becomes a regular thing, it will be a nice $200 bonus every month for most grinders. I am a little worried that with this new strategy there will be no more month long DIY bonuses

Most poker players know of the withdraw doom switch, in which a downswing occurs immediately after withdrawing from the site. For me, it’s the promo doom switch. I tend to have my best months when I’m not playing for any kind of bonus. In the months the poker site is offering tons of rakeback via different promotions (read 55% rakeback), I tend to not do as well. My base cashback is 20%. I receive that because of my elite status

In taking advantage of my Seven Stars status earned last year mostly through WSOP online poker, I attended the free Seven Stars Signature Experience at Lake Tahoe in June. The event provided me the following: Free 5 nights in Lake Tahoe Free entries to 70k Bingo 7x point multiplier one day Swag 7x Point Multiplier Knowing I would need the additional 15k in tier credits to maintain Seven Stars this year, I used the 7x point multiplier to obtain

I woke up today to a new email from WSOP.com with an interesting promo and I thought I’d share my thoughts on it. First though, I’d like to get one gripe out of the way. All casino promos should provide more than one day’s notice. I received the email on February 11 and the promo starts on February 12. If I wanted to reschedule some other events in my life to play it, that doesn’t leave me much time. Ok,
