Best Poker Books

Never stop learning. If you believe you know all there is to know about poker, then please, sit at my table! Below I’ve outlined a few of the best books I’ve read recently.

Best Online Poker Book

The Grinder’s Manual

The Grinder’s Manual by Peter Clarke

Peter Clarke is an accomplished online poker coach at Deuces Cracked. In his 689-page book, he covers online poker strategy ranging from simple position awareness to advanced 3-bet ranges.

With the aggressiveness of online poker games all the way down to NL50 these days, it’s important to build a strong understanding of initiative, squeezing, steals, light 4 betting, and types of leaks that affect all regulars.

Clarke does a good job of breaking down these ideas into easy to understand chapters that contain detailed explanations as well as live hand examples and blind hand examples.

Though at over $55, this book will expand your knowledge for months after purchase.

The Mental Game of Poker

The Mental Game of Poker by Jared Tendler is the pseudo-bible in the poker world for dealing with your mental fortitude while playing poker.

As a player’s knowledge progresses, he often finds himself limited not by other players’ abilities but by the emotional toll the game exacts on him. Dealing with swings and understanding how the brain works is the focus of this book.

Players will learn dozens of new psychological ideas such as unconscious competence that they will be able to apply to their game.

At $10 for the kindle version, this book should be read before you play your next hand of poker. It would be a far greater EV decision.

The original Super System

Super System by Doyle Brunson

Would you like to own a piece of Poker History?

Doyal Brunson’s original 1978 book was instrumental in legitimizing the game of poker and convincing countless fish they had the ability to beat the game.

With few copies still in circulation, own yours today while you still can.

Though the cost of the used book is close to $300 and few are available on amazon, it’s likely the value of this book will soar in the next several years as the aging “Texas Dolly” wraps up a successful life on the felt.
